A Sad Day For The Tidal Gronks...
Today was the first day that I can ever recall when all the original Tidal gronks were stopped.
08466 Toytown - main generator?
08752 Tidal - mechanical and electrical repairs
08854 Margam - stored
08951 Toytown - wheelsets
latter one's
08782 Toytown - main generator?
08921 Springs Branch.....allocated an A xam at Canton Depot on 01/03. Believe it should read Cardiff Tidal.

At least the three at Tidal now are having fun, more than can be said about the gronks that have loose heads

Too much time on your hands to come up with cliches like this.
Re: A Sad Day For The Tidal Gronks...
706 and 605 have been working very hard the last few days.706 had a few niggley faults that have now been sorted out.
Been very busy on getting the sheds back in service today.
Everything Tickerteboo in the East wales area for now.
As long as we can keep the engines away from toytown,we have a fighting chance.

All I can see replacing Pongo is 08752 Lenny. Hope you can arrange for FRED plates to be fitted to it.

Lol. Tidal have probably doubled your recommended maximum loading of 8 x MBA's.
Re: A Sad Day For The Tidal Gronks...
Class 20's fitted with remote may be sent to Tidal to replace the 08's Dream over.
Another manic night in South Wales will lots to do between Aberthaw and Llanwern.

20's is the answer, but no fitters to maintain them in south wales. Toton have lots of 20 fitters though.
I bet Billy Basher doesn't remember the 20's allocated to Canton Depot for trials?!

What happened.
Are you still in Ponty over the weekend? It'll be so wet that you'll need the D4 to spread chippings out of the car park. Can I post the picture I took of you with face blanked out at Pencoed many years ago?
Re: A Sad Day For The Tidal Gronks...
The 20's were ok but they were not what BR realy wanted at the time.If I remember right. They decided to base a 47 there,47377.fitted with ssc.The trial lasted for a short while then the 20's were sent back.I remember working on them on 13 rd at Canton main shed.I could never see the point for the trial as Canton had a few 47 /3's there at the time. These days a class 66 can discharge its train in 20/30 mins as I saw last night.I had the loco off the ONLLWYN working to sort out.Later, after the 20's and 47's they had the 37 refurbished and used them on MGR from the grange to Llanwern. We used that run to test 37's off a big exam.

You laid on a top night of pictures together with the rail visit to Celsa Melt and Rod Mill. Ta to the Treorchy Tafia as well, not forgetting BTP that thought they'd notched up three arrests.
I'll send you some pictures tomorrow. I had problems after all with focusing on 706, but Treorchy Taf's picture came out good, handhelp for 1/2s f5.6 at 6400asa and so did the 888 and the moon. 09022's picture will never set the world on fire.
Re: A Sad Day For The Tidal Gronks...
