more class 70 news/rumour
It appears that the first workings for these ugly beasts with F.L.H.H. could be coal traffic from Portbury to Rugeley P.S.whcih may well be routed via Worcester and Stourbridge instead of the current route via the Marches and this change could occur at the end of next month.
The "booked" motive power should be the new class 70 locomotives, two of which are due to arrive in newport shortly, with more to follow in December.
matters could of course change

If they are routed via Stourbridge, then I look forward to seeing one climb up through Old Hill, which I think is on a gradient of about 1 in 50.
Will wait & see what happens.

I think in due course, 6M00 Humber - Kingsbury will be a candidate for the 70's as well.
Should be an interesting year in 2010 regarding these machines

DB definately won the oil traffic. Contact in Barnetby said it starts on 1st November. 70001 and 70002 loaded on boat and it departed on Friday 23rd to Newport. See progress on twitter.
